The NIH Anticonvulsant Drug Development (ADD) Program: preclinical anticonvulsant screening project

reports are written for those compounds that have undergone multilevel evaluations. A report analyzes and interprets the generated data, and also compares the candidate compound's pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic profile to that of current clinically effective drugs. Annually, approximately ten promising compounds are considered for further development by the ADD Program. If a compound appears to have potential, the ADD Program collaborates with the pharmaceutical or academic sponsor in scheduling further preclinical and clinical evaluations.
